Art Talk with focus on the contemporary Danish artist Danh Vo and music act by Sound Artist HÄANA

Danh Vo is a Vietnamese-born Danish performance-art inspired conceptualist. Educated in Copenhagen and Frankfurt, he was awarded the prestigious Hugo Boss Prize in 2012. When Danh Vo was 4 years old, his family fled South Vietnam in a homemade boat and was rescued at sea by a Danish freighter. The family settled in Denmark, and their assimilation into European culture and the events that led up to their flight from Vietnam are reflected in Danh Vo's art.

Even though his art practice is highly internationally orientated, it maintains traces of a specific Nordic tradition as well. His work is informed by a certain inspiration and sensibility deriving from for instance the work of Danish 19th Century painter Vilhelm Hammershøi. Dan Vo’s artworks will fill the ramps of Guggenheim’s rotunda from February – May 2018 and after that at Statens Museum for Kunst in the fall of 2018.
